An appraisal can be completed with the aid of photographs and detailed descriptions or, if possible, by first-hand study. A collection of ten or more instruments requires first-hand study.
Fees vary by the type of instrument, the number of instruments, and the kind of appraisal requested. Please contact Dr. Rice by phone, fax, or e mail for an estimate.

For each instrument, the appraisal report contains a physical description, assessment of condition, history of maker/manufacturer, assessment of fair market or insurance replacement value based on research of the market, a list of sources researched and experts contacted, and a resume of the appraiser.
